Germany Arrests Terrorists

Even though many Democrats insist there is no world wide "War on Terror", the real world thinkers go on fighting it.

These terrorists were the real deal. Lots of explosives, targets scoped out, training in Pakistan: very dangerous. Both were in their twenties and Muslim.

Don't try to tell that to most Democratic presidential hopefuls though.

i don't think anyone, even those crazy democrats, denies that a) terrorists exist and b) actions are being taken against them world wide. i think their point is more that the biggest part of what has been justified as part of the war on terror was something else entirely

Actually, that's not entirely true. At one of the early democratic presidential debates...

John Edwards, while trying to appeal to the further leftist elements within the democratic camp, repudiated the war on terror as nothing more an a concept trumped up by the Bush administration before going on to say that there is no war and it has simply been framed as one.

riiiight...edwards was saying that what bush is claiming is a war on terror is actually something else. but again, no one denies that terrorists exist or that we and others are fighting them. its just that the iraq war is not a part of that

No.

Edwards and other Democrats denounce the notion of there being a world war against terror, period.

" Democrat John Edwards Wednesday repudiated the notion that there is a "global war on terror," calling it an ideological doctrine advanced by the Bush administration that has strained American military resources and emboldened terrorists."

how do you think john edwards would answer these two questions:

1) are there terrorist around the world?

2) are there worldwide efforts to stop them?

if you think he would answer yes to those questions, then you have to take a look at what he meant by rejecting bush's notion of a war on terror a bit more...subtly. you might say that edwards would acknowledge the war on terror but not Bush's War On Terror, if that makes sense? his point is that a lot of what is being done in the name of the War On Terror is not actually part of the war on terror, even though the war on terror DOES exist. how would he answer those two questions?

Well, I'm not sure how he would respond, other than answering what he has already.

Also: "Efforts" does not equate to "War." He may agree that there are "Efforts" but he does seem to indicate that he does not value the struggle worthy of a term as "war against terrorism".
